Trys was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, OCD, agoraphobia and social phobia
at fourteen, after leaving school. He spent his teens as a recluse, battling
depression that carried into his mid-twenties. Through his twenties he fought
back. By age thirty he had emigrated to Australia and was studying community
services.
He spent five years in Job Network, assisting long-term unemployed Australians
back into work - much of which involved supporting people with significant
mental health challenges navigate a system that wasn't always built for them.
In 2015 he became an Accredited Mental Health Trainer and released his first
book, Passionate People. Today, he is one of the few MHFA Primary
Master Trainers in Western Australia - the highest tier of accreditation issued
by Mental Health First Aid Australia.
