1. About these terms

These terms apply to course bookings, enquiries, and use of this website with Passionate Lives (“we”, “us”, “our”), a Mental Health First Aid training provider based in Perth, Western Australia. By booking a course or using this website, you agree to these terms.

Legal entity and ABN to be confirmed. Questions? Contact us at admin@passionatelives.com.au.

2. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)). Among other things, our training services must be provided with due care and skill, be fit for the purpose we describe, and be delivered within a reasonable time.

If there is a major failure with a service, you are entitled to cancel and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for any drop in value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes these rights.

3. Bookings and payment

Public course bookings are generally made through our booking platform (Eventbrite), and are subject to that platform’s terms in addition to ours. Workplace and group bookings are arranged directly with us by written agreement or invoice.

  • All prices are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable;
  • Your place is confirmed once payment, or an agreed purchase order, is received;
  • We may need a minimum number of participants to run a public session.

4. Cancellations and refunds (public courses)

We understand plans change. The following applies to publicly scheduled courses, and is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law:

  • 14 or more days before the course: full refund, or transfer to another date at no charge;
  • 7 to 13 days before the course: transfer to another date, or a credit toward a future course;
  • Less than 7 days before the course, or non-attendance: fees are generally non-refundable, though you may send a substitute participant at no extra cost;
  • Refunds are made using the original payment method, less any third-party platform fees that we cannot recover.

If we cancel or reschedule a course, you may choose a full refund or a transfer to the next available date.

5. Workplace and group bookings

Workplace, in-house, and group bookings are confirmed by a separate written agreement or invoice, which sets out the date, location, participant numbers, and fees. Cancellation and rescheduling terms for these bookings are set out in that agreement. Where they are not, the public-course terms in section 4 apply by reference to the agreed delivery date.

6. Accreditation and certificates

We are clear about which courses lead to a nationally accredited certificate and which are MHFA Australia-authored focused or awareness courses. To receive a certificate for an accredited course, you must attend the full course and complete any required assessment or activities. Certificates are issued in line with the relevant accreditation framework and the requirements of MHFA Australia.

7. Participant wellbeing and conduct

Our courses discuss mental health, and some specialist courses discuss suicide and self-injury. This content can be confronting. By enrolling, you acknowledge that our training provides initial support skills and is not therapy, counselling, or clinical treatment. If you are currently distressed, please reach out to a service such as Lifeline on 13 11 14, or in an emergency call 000.

We ask all participants to engage respectfully and to maintain the confidentiality of anything personal shared by others during a course. We may ask a participant to leave if their conduct affects the safety or learning of others.

8. Intellectual property

Course materials, this website, and our branding are protected by copyright and remain the property of Passionate Lives or its licensors, including MHFA Australia where relevant. Materials are provided for your personal learning and may not be copied, resold, or used to deliver training without our written permission.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, and other than for liability that cannot be excluded, our liability for any loss connected with a course or this website is limited to re-supplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.

10. Website use

We aim to keep this website accurate and available, but we provide it on an “as is” basis. Course details, dates, and prices may change, and the details confirmed at the time of booking apply. Links to third-party sites (such as Eventbrite or MHFA Australia) are provided for convenience and are governed by those parties’ own terms.

11. Privacy

We handle your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details on what we collect, why, and how to access or correct it.

12. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. We may update these terms from time to time; the version published on this page at the time of your booking applies. If you have any questions, contact us at admin@passionatelives.com.au.
