Trys Reddick.

Founder + MHFA Primary Master Trainer

Trys was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, OCD, agoraphobia and social phobia at fourteen, after leaving school. He spent his teens as a recluse, battling depression that carried into his mid-twenties. Through his twenties he fought back. By age thirty he had emigrated to Australia and was studying community services.

He spent five years in Job Network, assisting long-term unemployed Australians back into work - much of which involved supporting people with significant mental health challenges navigate a system that wasn't always built for them.

In 2015 he became an Accredited Mental Health Trainer and released his first book, Passionate People. Today, he is one of the few MHFA Primary Master Trainers in Western Australia - the highest tier of accreditation issued by Mental Health First Aid Australia.

He has been featured on ABC News delivering MHFA for the Suicidal Person, founded Inspire Radio - a community radio station promoting positive mental health - and continues to publish, podcast, and stage events to raise awareness of mental illness across Western Australia.

Mental Health First Aid isn't therapy, and it isn't a substitute for clinical care. It's the bridge that gets someone from the moment they're struggling to the moment they're in professional hands. That bridge can save a life.

Passionate Lives exists because Trys believes the training he delivers now is what someone could have done for him at fourteen.

Our approach

How we hold this work.

Evidence-based

Every course is authored by Mental Health First Aid Australia and grounded in current best practice - not opinion, not trends.

Lived experience

Training is delivered by someone who has been on the other side of it, and now holds the credentials to help others.

Person-first, always

We use language that respects dignity, follows Mindframe safe-messaging guidelines, and never sensationalises.

Positioning, honestly

Passionate Lives is an Authorised Instructor of MHFA Australia, delivering MHFA Australia-authored courses. We are a training organisation - not a counselling service, not a clinical practice, and not MHFA Australia itself. We are clear about what each course is, and what it isn't, so you always know exactly what you're booking.

Acknowledgement of Country

Passionate Lives acknowledges the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, train and gather. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge that mental health and social and emotional wellbeing services for First Nations peoples are most effectively delivered with cultural understanding at the centre.
